The 2009 season will mark Kellen Mock’s fourth at the helm of the Wildcat program.

Mock – who played at ACUas Kellen Morrow – is not far removed from the program, having completed her playing career in November 2004 and then serving as an interim assistant coach in spring 2005. She spent the 2005-06 school year as the head volleyball coach and assistant softball coach at Livingston High School.

ACU posted its best record since 2005 last year as the Wildcats finished 26-9 overall and 9-4 in the Lone Star Conference.  ACU had a 13-match winning streak late in the season that stretched to the championship match of the Lone Star Conference Post-Season Tournament.

The Wildcats took national powerhouse West Texas A&M to a fifth set before finally losing.  Despite their 26-9 record, the Wildcats were left out of the NCAA Division II Southwest Regional Tournament.

Mock is 59-34 overall in three seasons as the head coach, and in 2006 she led the Wildcats to the regional tournament.

Mock took over for Brek Horn in Spring 2006, inheriting a program that had been the best in the Lone Star Conference , and one of the tops in the NCAA Division II Southwest Region.

Mock helped put the program on that pedestal as she was the team captain on the 2004 squad that won ACU’s first LSC volleyball championship and made its first appearance in the regional tournament.

The Wildcats were 90-47 in Mock’s four seasons as a Wildcat, including a 28-8 mark in 2004. ACU was 26-14 in LSC South Division play in her career, including 16-4 in her last two seasons. ACU made three LSC Post-Season Tournament appearances in her career, won one LSC title and reached one NCAAregional tournament.

Mock – who is married to former Wildcat football letterwinner Paul Mock – graduated summa cum laude from ACU in May 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in history and a 3.92 grade average. She was a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll every semester as an undergraduate, and she was a member of the Jack Pope Fellows Program, a prestigious fellowship for promising students interested in public service.

Mock also was a university scholar and a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Alpha Chi Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society. She was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, the Special Olympics and the Salvation Army.

She was part of the ACU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2002-05, and served as the president of the council as a senior in 2004-05.

As a senior, Mock was the LSC volleyball academic Player of the Year, a first team academic all-LSC South Division selection, and a first team academic all-District VI selection.

A three-time LSC South Division all-academic selection, Mock was an honorable mention selection to the all-LSC South Division team in 2003 and 2004.

She is third on ACU’s career digs list with 1,510, and she has two of the top 10 single-season dig totals in school history with 522 in 2003 (fifth) and 501 in 2004 (eighth). Mock also was a three-time LSC South Division Defensive Player of the Week in her last two seasons.

Mock and her husband have one child, a daughter.
